As a result of Mt Vesuvius errupting , Pompeii was left under a pile of ash, only to be discovered and excavated early in the 20th century. As I walked through the ancient worn cobbled streets of Pompeii, at the foot of Vesuvius on a freezing day in January 1985, pieces of uncovered bodies, artifacts and parts of buildings, lay where they were discovered.

The historical sculptures and paintings depicting the figures of the Mesopotamian women were powerful and awe inspiring.
